NEW GRADERS IMPROVE HANDLING AND REDUCE DOWNTIME
A new generation of precision made ‘Easy-Grade’ screen sizers, designed to improve crop handling while reducing downtime, have been introduced by produce handling specialists Tong Engineering.

"Fitted with two side-mounted variable speed motors — one to control the screen speed and the other the speed of agitation — these graders offer ‘finger tip’ control of tuber separation," says Charles Tong, managing director. "By refining the screen drive and anti-cut rollers, further improvements have been made to gentle crop handling.

"We’ve also introduced a number of time saving service and maintenance features. For example, the screen drive roller has a simple quick release mechanism and our new screen tensioners make them simple to change and adjust, saving valuable time."

Using the latest computer-aiding design, Tong has improved overall maintenance access. Following the removal of the safety guards, the graders can be quickly dissembled giving easy access to the drive, anti-cut and agitator rollers.

The new model has a universal specification which is designed to fit all seven models helping to keep manufacturing costs down. Screens are available in metal or plastic, and a hexagonal screens is now available for onion grading.

Capable of handling 5 to 40 tonnes per hour, the new Easy-Grade screen sizers are available as free-standing units, or for incorporation into grading systems. Prices start from £5530 plus VAT.
